Placenta Encapsulation

Methods

There are 2 methods of encapsulation, The Raw Method, and The Traditional Chinese Method (TCM).

I use TCM which consists of steaming the placenta over an infusion of fresh lemon and ginger.

These warming herbs familiar to Chinese medicine are believed to warm and energize you, destroy bacteria and preserve the placenta.

Process

Day 1:

Sanitize kitchen area being worked with and set up materials to be used.

Start heating water with lemon, and ginger for steaming, while placenta is being cleaned.

If placenta is fresh a placenta print will be made at this point.

Placenta is then drained of blood, and umbilical cord is removed and shaped for keepsake.

Placenta is then steamed for 8-12 minutes depending on its size.

Once fully steamed & cooled, the placenta is cut into thin slices and placed in dehydrator.

**Umbilical cord keepsake is also placed for dehydration.

The placenta is left to dehydrate for 18-24 hours at 160 degrees F.

Clean and sanitize area

Day 2:

Sanitize kitchen area being worked with and set up materials to be used.

Check dehydrated placenta, to assure it has fully dried.

Use food processor to grind the dried placenta into a uniform powder.

Create tincture & salve using the dehydrated placenta.

Use capsule filler to prepare placenta capsules

Package capsules in jars.

Sanitize area and review guidelines for consumption with client.
